James graduated from the University of Melbourne in 2010. He then moved to Brisbane to work in small animal general practice for 3 years.

 

During that time he authored a research paper on feline entropion with Animal Eye Care Melbourne which was subsequently published in the international journal 'Veterinary Ophthalmology.'

 

James presented these findings at the ANZCVS College Science Week conference on the Gold Coast in 2011. In 2013 he began his formal residency programme with Animal Eye Services.
