course brief
Pelvic fractures and SI luxation are common injuries in dogs and cats sustaining substantial trauma. The optimal outcome is often predicated proper decision-making and appropriate surgery. This interactive course includes lectures and laboratories to teach participants the techniques to accurately diagnose and treat pelvic and sacroiliac traumatic injuries.
Participants will perform ilial, acetabular and sacral fracture/luxation repairs on plastic bones using state of the art equipment and implants. Participants will use locking plate technology to simplify, increase precision and reduce complications of the procedure.
Participants will also learn how to properly place a lag screw and headless compression screw. This course is appropriate for specialists, residents, interns and general practitioners with orthopedic experience and an interest in advancing their decision-making skills and treatment of patients having pelvic trauma.
