"Tilters and Rollers:  Coming to grips with Vestibular Dysfunction in Dogs and Cats."

The vestibular system is the major sensory system that, along with the general proprioceptive and visual systems, maintains balance.   The sense of balance is best summarized as a normal orientation with respect to the influence of gravitational forces. The vestibular system also functions to coordinate body posture and ocular position in relation to the position or motion of the head.  Considering its physiologic roles, the clinical hallmarks of vestibular dysfunction are abnormalities of the gait, head and body posture, and ocular movement.  This presentation will concentrate on the clinical signs, diagnosis and treatment of cats and dogs with a vestibular disorder.

"Update on treatment of CCL rupture"

Cranial cruciate ligament rupture remains to be the leading cause of hind limb lameness requiring surgery in veterinary practice. As such, there is tremendous interest in optimizing outcomes through a better understanding of current techniques, as well as development of new management strategies. The aim of this lecture is to provide a deeper insight into all clinically relevant aspects of treating cranial cruciate ligament rupture, from better case assessment, to greater awareness of strengths and limitations of new and established techniques. Most of the content will be based on the latest research in the area, much of which has been performed at the University of Florida.

"Inflammatory CNS Disease of Dogs: You, Me, and GME."

Inflammatory central nervous system (CNS) diseases are a group of diseases that affect the brain, or brain and spinal cord, in the absence of an infectious cause. These inflammatory CNS diseases affect dogs worldwide.  The four most clinically relevant inflammatory CNS diseases of dogs are Granulomatous Meningoencephalomyelitis (GME), Necrotizing Meningoenephalitis (NME), Necrotizing Encephalitis (NE), and Steroid Responsive Meningitis-Arteritis (SRMA).  This presentation is an update on the current state of knowledge concerning these disorders, with an emphasis on the similarities and differences between the disease entities, and an update on the most recent treatment recommendations.
